2 Timothy 3:16, NIV
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be throughly equipped for every good work.
My mother had a favourite recipe. It always worked and produced the most wonderful cake in the whole world – at least in the world in which my brother and I were brought up. We loved it! The recipe was highly dependable and well proven.
The more often you have tried something and it has proved reliable, the more you are able to depend on it and then recommend it to others. Word of mouth recommendation is always the best possible advertising for any product. Well, the older I have got, the more confident I have become in the truth and value of Scripture. Experience has demonstrated its dependability. I strongly recommend the recipe! What incredible ingredients it contains.
I look back now on the years of youth, when through daily reading of the Scriptures God got His word into my heart. I would not want to live now without having constant access to that daily source of the richest treasure. I often say, “if you get it in, the Holy Spirit will get it out!” Paul was absolutely right when he referred to the Scriptures as being vital for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training. If we would only listen to that gentle voice of the Spirit speaking to our hearts through the Scriptures, and act accordingly, then we would indeed be thoroughly equipped for every good work and be saved from many wrong choices and bad decisions.
I pray that you will always look to the Scriptures as the primary input into your life. The Word of God will make you wise!
Prayer:Thank you Lord for your precious Word. Forgive me for the times when I have ignored the truth it contains. Please help me, as I read it, to understand what it says, and listen to what you are saying to me through your Word today. In Jesus, Amen
