You Lift Me Up!

Psalm 69:29, NIV
“But I am in pain and despair; lift me up, O God, and save me!”

Once, when I was at a Christian seminar in Northern Ireland, I was intrigued to hear the speaker say these words:

“With Jesus, I am never down. I am either up or getting up.”

Life’s full of ups and downs and sometimes the lows can be very low. It would be unreality to claim that our journey as a follower of Jesus is always on an emotional or spiritual mountain-top. Christians have bad days and sometimes these can extend into bad weeks and more. However, the great news is that we have now become part of One who is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come (Ephesians 1:21, NIV).

In other words whatever problem is pressing down on us at any moment of our lives, Jesus is above it! What is more, He invites us to be lifted up and to be seated with Him in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6, NIV). By ourselves it is impossible to truly rise above the troubles of this world, but in Him we have the opportunity to get up and to look down on all that would otherwise overwhelm us.

If you need to get up today, take His hand and find that place with Jesus which has been prepared just for you. Seeing life from His perspective makes all the difference. There is absolutely nothing more powerful than Him and He will be in charge for eternity.

Prayer: Father, thank You that no issue is bigger than Jesus. I choose today to get up and sit with Him above every problem. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
