The Psalmist urges us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6-9). As wars rage around Israel we are having to face the reality that these prayers will only be fully answered when the Prince of Peace returns to Jerusalem as prophesied in Zechariah 14.
It is only when both the Sons of Isaac (the Jewish people) recognize their Messiah and the Sons of Ishmael (the Arab nations of today) discover the Saviour who died for them both, that there can be peace between two people groups who, for over three thousand years have lived alongside each other in hostility, each striving to have mastery over the other. Scripture tells us that the rejected sons of Ishmael will always “live in hostility” towards their brothers (Genesis 16:11-12).
Ezekiel 36:24-26 prophesies that when the Jews return to their homeland of Israel, as they have done in the past one hundred years, that they will receive healing. And in Isaiah 19:21-22, we read that the day will come when the Egyptians (the Sons of Ishmael) will “turn to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.” Healing is central to God’s restoration plan for both the Sons of Isaac and the Sons of Ishmael.
That is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about healing and why God has raised up the healing ministry to a new prominence in the years preceding the return of Jesus. I am stunned at the healing doors God is now opening for Gates of Hope International – especially in respect of bringing healing to both the Sons of Isaac and the Sons of Ishmael.
What God is doing today is nothing short of a miraculous fulfilment of those ancient prophecies, whose time has now come.
The daily catalogue of war that is raging across the Middle East will be with us until Jesus comes. But in the midst of the wars God is doing something prophetically extraordinary. He is drawing Jews to Himself as Messianic believers and he is opening the eyes and the hearts of some of the Sons of Ishmael, who have been blinded for so long by their generational hostility towards the Sons of Isaac and the subsequent deceptions of Islam.
Paul prophesied that the day would come when Jewish and Gentile believers would become ‘One New Man’ in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:15). This has not usually been interpreted to embrace the Sons of Ishmael, as well as all the other Gentiles across the world, but today there is a new reality emerging and something that I never thought to see in my lifetime is happening before our very eyes.
Yeshua (Jesus) is revealing himself to both the Hebrew and the Arabic speaking peoples of the world, as believers from the opposite sides of this historic divide find unity in their Redeemer. The Saviour is healing broken hearts on both sides and with healed hearts they are embracing one another as brothers and sisters, redeemed and healed by the Prince of Peace.
Healing is central to the fulfilment of both the Isaiah 19 and Ezekiel 36 prophecies. Right now this move of the Spirit of God may seem like Elijah’s cloud ‘no bigger than a man’s hand’ (1 Kings 18:44), but Elijah’s cloud presaged the rain that would soon come in torrents.
As surely as day follows night God is at work fulfilling the prophecies He inspired to be written all those years ago. A message is going out to the Arabic speaking nations that God is healing people today – and that Jesus is not just a prophetic healer but that he is also the Son of God, the great Redeemer. God is beginning to heal people across the hostile Arabic speaking world.
The prophetic raindrops are beginning to fall and those raindrops will, in time, become a torrent as the second coming of Jesus comes ever nearer. God’s prophetic agenda is unfolding, even in the midst of war. The purposes of God cannot be thwarted.
The Prince of Peace is healing broken hearts. It is time for believers to hang on to the coat-tails of God and form an intercessory army supporting those on the spiritual front-line called to be the pioneers, bringing hope and healing across the nations.
